Making these lists is great for me—it’s a proven happiness strategy to list positive things. What will make it great for you is if you do the same thing—whether privately, or publicly (posting comments here or on the Six Simple Rules Facebook page.)
After doing this for three weeks, a wonderful by-product of this practice is that anticipating my weekly list has me thinking about it daily. As you know if you’ve read my book or this blog with some regularity, it takes 21-days to form a habit and this is now a habit for me.
Here are some of the things that made me smile this week:
Seeing my daughters in their prom dresses.
Getting my daughters back from the Jersey shore post-prom.
Watching my daughters get called to the stage for recognition at the senior awards ceremony. #proud
Hearing all about my son’s travels upon his return from overseas.
Playing Frisbee in a park. First time I’ve tossed one in a long time. Fun!
Appearing as the featured expert in (201) Health magazine’s Ask the Expert column.
At the Sunday school graduation program for a friend’s daughter, the very moving video about the graduates’ participation as volunteers at a program for kids with special needs.
At the luncheon following the graduation, hearing the mom tell funny stories about her daughter as a little girl, including the kinds of questions she used to ask her parents on a regular basis. For example: Do fish vomit? Do pigs have tonsils?
